The original plan for Zenius, including his basic history, along with everything else.

Warning, this gets a little creepy.

History: Zenius' origins are in actuality a little more than dubious. As far as everyone knew in his town, in the world of Artemis, he was born normally to both his parents, Terra, and Shion. However, the truth of the matter remains different. In a rainy night, they found a little boy set outside their doorstep in a leaves-made basket, and they decided to take him in. Every day since then they had taken care of him and mostly the general part is history. Another detail about this is that he's unrelated to his parents, and that technically he isn't human. A common feature in the world of Artemis are spirits/elementals, one of which people could make contracts with, and well, he's the result of a mishap between a contract of a spirit/elemental and a human.

Long story short, before his time, some human tried to make a contract/agreement with one but in doing so, became impatient and desired power, trying to use a method that would surrender their fellow forest elemental's sovereignty to this human. He thought that using the body of a baby that had passed would work. There was a flaw in this method, which involved some manner of arcane spell, and instead of passing the sovereignty of many a elemental unto him, it just managed to backfire, killing the human instead. The elementals were forced into one being and that resided, trapped in the body of the young one.

As they were, they couldn't do anything, and despised the human for doing such a thing. However, they knew that as the human body they had been forced into couldn't do anything until a certain age, they had the baby be moved by the power of nature to a quaint little family instead. In time, this new entity would allow themselves to have an identity as a human, but at the same time, plan to cause and wreck havoc on the world by any means possible due to the forceful combination of elementals causing an inner discord on their reason.

As a result, while he was growing up, he would hear voices in his head that he dismissed as his own. And when he became seemingly better from his 'sickness' would often venture into the forest days on end.

Now let's time-skip to Zenius' time in the Federation after he joined, and him being very much willing to follow orders, even if it wound up causing many people to die. Since, after all, he believed it was the Returners' fault that his 'sister' died, and therefore he thought this was the proper way to get vengeance. He met a man named Jin around the time said Returners were staging an infiltration operation and sort of got caught. This is also around the same time he met Subaru, and a certain girl stopped the boys' fight.

Jin calling Zenius 'beautiful' and treating as he did caused him to fall in love with him, although Zenius himself didn't notice it. He always tried his best to make sure that the Jin he came to know saw him in top shape and made a habit of not defying orders, hoping it would make the other continue to look good in his eyes. In fact, Zenius could care less about the leader of the organization, Lycaon. He felt a strong emotional bond with Jin, and so when Subaru was forced to kill his brother, Zenius sort of just went beserk during this time. Around this time (before or after Subaru had did the deed) he fought against Subaru once more, but lost to him, and to his confusion ever to this day was spared.

Although Zenius at one point insisted the man to kill him. Ironically enough, this would come to bite Subaru in the ass, since he wound up attacking Jess 5 years after Federation was dissolved/defeated but met his defeat at Subaru's hands once more. However, as a result Subaru was dispatched as well. Strangely enough, he seems to remember the battle, however if asked he wouldn't remember Subaru dying.

Flash forward 5 or so years and the man is seemingly taken up a peaceful hobby as a singer, and a 'secret' job as well. What is this job? Well, that's a mystery...

Either way, deep down he feels he cannot return home.

Personality: Zenius is on the surface a very vain and selfish man -- he believes himself to be beautiful and knows that he can easily catch the eye of many women as well as a few men. But he doesn't care too much about the latter of those two things and he considers himself to be incredibly important. He doesn't seem to hold stock in the value of other people's lives, unless he considers them to be very precious to him. In that case, he'll go to crazy lengths to protect them and when that fails, he will literally crack and be a hot mess... but definitely the kind anyone will not want to be around. When this happens, his powers go haywire and he loses absolute control and he attempts to kill anyone else around him.

Speaking of losing control, he's had issues with remaining in control whenever it comes to arguments when he feels like he's 'losing' and the same for battles. You could say he's a very sore loser as well, but he also has a terrible temper, even when he tries his best to restrain it. When he was younger, it was definitely much worse, to say the least.

He's not very good at making friends, and definitely keeps people at a distance. Unless, well, your name is Subaru but then again he doesn't consider him a friend and he's a special case in particular. As for anyone else he considers to be an enemy, he won't hesitate to go all out to kill them or do whatever the hell he wants to injure them. He is rather cold to them as well, mercy the last thing on his mind when he's facing them.

When it comes to Subaru, he likes to use a different approach, albeit slightly. For example, if they should be fighting, he'd want them to do it on the 'same level' -- take that as you will. He's absolutely stubborn about it too, and so it can cause him to react/become carelessly/careless.

Despite all of this, if anyone does happen to sincerely compliment him, he will make an effort to try to be nice to them, but show signs of being incredibly socially awkward. Aka welcome to frequent pauses and him seeming to look over at something in the scenery. All in all, it's way more easier for him to be insulting and snobbish instead of reasonable.

As for reasonable, that is also a thing that Zenius has an increasing lack of. He doesn't like listening to anyone unless he's already decided he will do so indefinitely. He intends to ignore the reasonable conclusions if he doesn't like them... like when Subaru tried to inform Zenius about the reason he killed his brother. He wanted to be angry at Subaru so he ignored it and said something ridiculous instead just for the sake of fighting him as well. This ties in with him being incredibly stubborn and obstinate like a bull. It's not a very endearing trait.

It's not surprising to figure he lacks a good amount of common sense, and another way he shows that is if he wants a fight he'll pick it with whoever he wants, despite how he caries himself ala 'above them all'. He also tends to treat people as if he were older than him, although he doesn't notice it unless it's pointed out. This even happens if he's speaking to an old man, although this may be due to his situation.

Another thing he can't stand are these things: smoking, drinking, and doing the deed himself. He shies away from doing that and he can't be convinced to do any of those in the slightest.

No one has been around to experience it yet recently, but he likes to eat... a lot. In the past his companions in the Federation became annoyed because he racked up quite the bill for food.

Underneath this all, is the personality he has when his true self takes over, and that's nothing short of systematically murderous. The amount of times this has happened was twice. Once when he was a child and the other time was after he had been brought a third defeat at Subaru's hands. When this also happens, he seems to avoid saying much, leaving his words up to his blade. If anyone can get him to say something when he's in this form besides a spell incantation or a battle cry, that is a miracle.

All in all, he hardly has any redeeming qualities and chances are if he learns the truth about himself, as a result of personalities merging instead of being kept separate, he'd start a campaign to destroy the world or the universe. Not kidding.

Orientation: I'd say demiromantic asexual.

Height/Weight:: 5'5/140 lbs. When he's in his other form, he's 5'10, however.

Age: Technically 27 years old (The spirit makes it about 126).

Birthday: November 11th.

Appearance: He takes on a varying amount of appearances when he becomes older, taken to dying his hair a few blonds, oranges, and whatnot. His hair is generally still long but not as long as when he first made his appearance in Condemned By Lies. His eyes are normally a very light blue, that looks like they should be translucent but for obvious reasons are not. He is a bit on the short side but it never really bothered him much. When the elemental side takes over, however, his hair is turns completely black and long, as well as opposed to the curly way his hair is it becomes more straight and his eyes become an ethereal blue color.

He's always been a bit on the slim side, even when he was a child, up to now. Although he's certainly put on some muscle. He looks pretty much on the pale side, though, and this seems to still be a thing.

Abilities:

-- Basic Movelist --

Magic:

Luminitrium - A blast of light which is extended from his fist, having the same width to counter magic thrown at him.

Ixion - A series of purple Lightning bolts strike once, during the spell, a magnetic field is activated.

Lightning Ball - A ball of electricity forms and is attracted to the opponent. This attraction is inhanced if the target is wearing anything conductable.

Rose - A rose is manifested into Zen's hand (or he picks one up nearby) and he is able to throw it onto the target. Once imbedded anyway on the target, it automatically grows into a rope-like-grasp but in the form of a vine around the target.

Accelerate - Able to speed himself up just a little.

Levitate - Able to lift himself off merely a few inches above ground.

Nature's Call - Able to communicate with the plants and animals.

Flora: Where there is plants, he is able to make them grow at a faster rate.

-- Final Boss Mode --

Tellus excitatus -- He assumes another form, that is not only taller but a bit stockier as well. As a result he has increased endurance on top of the spells he already knows, that are stronger when he executes them in this form. Not to mention he has better control over them if he should use them, i.e., not only is he able to communicate with plants and animals he's able to control them with ease to do his bidding. The seemingly strong Ixion spell in particular calls upon the spirit of thunder himself as a summon to aide him in battle.

The enhancement also goes for his speed. Whenever he swings his blade, a powerful shockwave automatically releases from it, regardless of how hard he's attacking or no when he executes a cut. He effectively becomes a lightning berserker and even his normal punches hit harder.

It typically lasts for about eight hours and when he returns to normal, he faints, and has no recollection of what happened while he was in that form.

In a small town somewhere in the land of Artemis, Zenius lived peacefully within the town with a family of three others. One being his mother, the other his father, and the last one his older sister. He wanted to go outside as his older sister, Kayle always seemed to leave to go into the forest for training. But he was forbidden due to the fact he had contracted a strange illness which made him physically weak. Kayle also went there to cut the wood for the fireplace for her parents were busy with other events. Zenius was able to occasionally sneak outside the house when given the rare chance that both his parents were out and his sister was not in forest, nor in the house but somewhere else as well.

Although he never was able to get along or know any of the other kids in the town, he seemed to be able become accustomed to that. Zenius had already decided that the plants and animals were enough company for him in his family's absence. Although apparently his family knew no magic, he felt as if the forest were listening to the words he spoke to them. Back then, his hair was the color of white, like the culumous clouds in the sky and he was able to be picked out in a crowd of kids at the town (if someone would gather all of them).

One day he realizd at age 14, once when looking out a window outside his room, how joyful everyone else looked. Inside, for the first time since ever he felt the feeling of envy...jelousness. He narrowed his eyes in hatred, wishing that the grass they played on could pierce thier small, fragile bodies. Strange, burning words and terrible names filled his mind, clouding any coherent thoughts. Just as a parcle of grass stopped swaying in the wind and began to lift from the ground, apparently heading his call, a voice cried,

"Yamate (Stop) !"

Snapping out of his hateful trance, he realized that the hateful words swarming in his mind besides the ones wanting to venture outside were foreign. They did not belong to him at all. Kayle sighed, standing over his bed and looking out the window; did she know? Perhaps, the voices were from the suffering plants themselves, implying how much they would like to get back at the humans.

"Zenius, we have not spoken of such things but, you have to learn to put your power to good use. So we can all live in harmony..."

Suddenly, Zenius felt indifferent and chose to ignore her. Surely, he knew that he would put his powers to good use someday, he knew better then her where he wanted to belong. A place where he could freely interact with people and live with a thrill, knowing the dangers yet facing them. Once she left the room, Zenius got up from the bed and noticed as if something heavy was lifted from his chest.

Instead of his breaths coming out in shortened gasps, he was able to take whole gulps of air. As soon as he did, vines started growing through the cracks of the floor, his hair turned to the color of radishes and his eyes (unoticably) had turned translucent, straying away from thier dull hue which had been there before.

A few years later, the town had recieved news from a tired-looking man that some people had supposedly taken over the land of Artemis. But Zenius had heard naught of this from the man but from the plants who had informed many days before the man had done so. Zenius had smiled simply when his older sister had come to him, informing news from the man.

"Sou desu ka (Is that so) ?"

"Sou desu."

"Well I'm glad."

"What?!"

Zenius had said surprising Kayle, who had a face torn between the emotion of definate surprise, worry, and...anger. When Zenius turned his head from her, she slapped him across the face yelling at him,

"They have been doing things with people! Did your plants tell you that?!"

"Hai desu."

"...How could you?"

Zenius stood up and looked up at the birds making sounds, the fluttering, the chirps...they all seemed ignorant but were blissfully aware of such the outcome of Artemis. Turning around he saw his older sister looking upon him with hopeful eyes, as if she were about to ask him something important. Zenius also saw fire...the sign of a rebel in her eyes; he liked the form of lightning more than fire. As he predicted, Kayle asked,

"Will you....help me fight against them?"

"...No, I am not ready. I will choose the side more interesting."

For a first time in a while, Kaylee smiling. She said,

"That's just like you. Being indecisive. Then, before I leave, I would like for you to hear what I say carefully: Choose where your heart desires itself to be, sometimes it helps...not to listen to the plants sometimes. Even they can be just as hypocritical as humans. Here, take this."

Kayle then handed her the sword which she caried around with her each day to go train. Was this what she was training for...? Just in case something happened that made her rebel against the current leaders of Artemis? Even so, Zenius was shocked that she had trusted him this much...in order to give 'Tracie' away, as she had nick-named the sword, to him. Once upon recieving the sword, a transparant blade extended itself from the handle where it once had not been seen. Apparently, only those who wield the blade could see it; the color to him was clear to him though. It was same color of his eyes.

"This blade has been handed down the Jira family for generations uncounted, it's name is commonly known as 'Claymore', as its shape is recognized for. But, its real name is Clarus. As you can tell, it can only be seen by those wielding it, which gives you an advantage over an opponent."

"But...why?"

Zenius asked with a complete look of astonishment flashed upon his facial features as he gave the sword a little swing to test it. To find it was incredibly light as it looked.

"Just remember, brother, that even if I die I will still love you very much!"

Kayle said with a big grin and left...not realizing how soon her death was to be upon her. Before Zenius left a vine shot up from the earth, from it extending a whip with the color of green and grey. He blinked, taking it, muttering and bowing a small 'thanks' to the forest.

Zenius blinked, standing over the body of his older sister. There was a strange feeling of emptiness in his chest; three weeks...three weeks after she had left. Someone had supposedly killed her when she was asleep, what company she was responsible with traveling with were the Returners. Zenius had decided. He was going to destroy the group that led to her death.

Their irresponsibility will be thier downfall.

Zenius thought, looking in the direction of Mt. Kara.

- Subaru Kirishima -- Someone Zenius is not afraid to admit to loathing; although it wasn't exactly all pointed at Subaru even after his first confrontation with the younger Kirishima sibling. His source of hatred toward the boy perhaps lies in a deeper reason. But you can be sure that he and Subaru would never be able to stay sane together if they were locked in the same room. XD

- Jin Kirishima -- Basically, Zenius did not actually care much about Jin before; his main focus of attention was only for his leader. But after certain events, in which he was called a beautiful nickname, the pink-haired male began to admire the man, for other reasons than his ego being stroked. As a result, his eyes are now only for the older sibling and it wouldn't be too shocking if he suddenly wondered off, Zenius would find himself following as well.

Hurr.

Either way, you'd think Zenius would still try not to be so cutting towards Subaru because of this but actually, it seemed to be a good reason for him to act completely the opposite. He is determined to make sure Jin stays with the Federation, even if it means Subaru's death.

...

You starting to think Zenius crack his head when he was a baby? If so, good. XD

"Zenius, you may not realize this but, you have to learn to put your power to good use. So we can all live in harmony..."

Zenius's feet stopped moving down the cold, empty corrider as he began to recall his dead sister's words--words that had been spoken to him a few days before she left. He could feel the bright sun's rays upon his face as he looked at Kayle, feeling cords of disbelief welling up inside of him as well as a sort of annoyance. But now, when he thinks of her carefully chosen words the man thinks about harmony.

Is the world heading into harmony now?

No, he believed not...not with that rebel group his sister had been once part of--

"If history's bound to change, then why not let us be the ones to change it? If our name's venom on your lips, then by all means, let yourself be taken by its poison,"

Subaru's words, he recalled from quite some time ago; there was a heavy difference between Subaru and Jin--fire was more akin to the younger sibling and lighting to Jin. He had always perferred lightning to fire anyway, and there was something he always recognized on a subconcious level when speaking to Subaru: he is dangerous. Although, such a realization was always pushed away whenever he saw the other individual--he always acted so hotheaded around him.

Zenius sighed, thinking, if I keep underestimating him like that I may fall in battle to him.

After all, regardless of what he said, the man thought of Subaru as a good fighter but he never took him seriously in battle...regardless as to what the other had thought last battle. Him recieving that wound was certainly careless but clearly a sign.

Of course, then, there is Lycaon as well--the enigmatic, charismatic leader of the Federation; one of whom he pledged his undying loyalty to...

...but he wondered what would Jin think if he told him why he joined; would he think him a hypocrite?

It was, however, past time he shed this disguise.

...

A nostalgic requiem,
He feels the old days as this,
Heaving his weary but young soul,
As the toils of the day dare to wear him down.

Surrounded by death once again;
But he finds he can only live on the battlefield,
Springing into action,
His sword serving to do what words cannot.

He has long away sealed his heart away,
So no one could know his loss,
But in doing so,
He loses so much.

He keeps his memories dear,
He keeps his friends close,
Valuing their presence,
Knowing if they died,
He would die as well.

But now as sure as ever,
He is sure he must live,
For he is,
The Blue Lightning.

BLUE LIGHTNING

The swift cut of a blade,
Given without hesitation,
Momentum shifting reality,
And the battle within just beginning.

Through the corridors he ran,
Feet carrying him like a bolt of lightning,
His sword unsheathed,
And his eyes look as hard as steel.

He misses her,
He loves her,
The only one,
Who he cherished so much.

His resolve is strong,
As he carries the memory of her,
He doesn't give into despair,
And happily lives on with his friends.

Like a lightning bolt,
He moves from place to place,
His spirit more restless then ever,
He finds he cannot stay in one place.

Keeping his head forward,
So he can see what is in front;
He looks behind,
To remember what was in back.

He was once told,
He would die in the midst of battle,
Never to recieve what he desired;
Despite that he never retired.

The years wane on,
As experience begins to become an ability,
He finds himself more inclined to search,
To search for battles,
Battles that will calm his restless soul.

At night, thunder cracks;
The lightning striking nearby,
Making sure the blue one loses sleep,
The night an addition to restless days,
Days in which he reminiscents her touch.

Name: "Takanda Nakashiro"

Age: Claims to be 21, however biological tests show inconsistencies with his age between the numbers 18 and 25.

Gender: Male.

Blood Type: B Negative.

Personality: He is a vain person, although he only admires his looks and doesn't think himself to be above everyone else in that retrospect. However he is a paranoid person at times when it comes to trusting other people unless he has taken a liking to a person--then when that happens you are likely to be in danger of being stalked 24/7. He also devotes himself to the person he holds dearly and would protect them with his life, even if that person was on the wrong side of the world. To those he holds little trust in, however, he keeps them at a yard's length and would look for any holes in their honesty so he can decide whether or not they are trustworthy.

It is incredibly hard to get him angry, although in the past this was quite the opposite, and he tries his best to not underestimate his opponent if he engages one in battle but he still finds it a habit to let snide remarks about their weaknesses slide through his lips if he has them in a corner. He is very cold to his enemies and would not think twice about ending their lives if he won against them--whether it was necessary or not.

History: Not much is known about his personal history as an adolescent and most of his teen years however, according to documents, it is said he has a mother and father who are both currently alive--his sister's whearabouts remain unknown. Sometime, he joined up with the military and now holds a supposedly important rank within it--he appears to be a singer on the side with his electric pianonist named Natsushi Tok. According to doctors we spoke to, he has had one record with a battle against his constant sickness which nearly had him dead as it caused him to dramatically shed weight and nearly die from malnutrition.

Appearance: In the past he used to wear his hair down long past his shoulders but one day he mysteriously flew into a rage and cut his hair out of impulse to the point where it barely went past his neck--it appears to have grown considerably back though and he seems to alternate hair colors between pink, red, and light brown. His skin is a obvious sickly pale at times if he isn't using make-up.

Weapon(s): ? - Appears to be some kind of sword, although it is always sheathed on his back so we have no idea of its major capabilities other then it appears to emit strange waves of magic that seem to reach out to the forces of nature.

A Whip - We have seen this in battle and it appears to be as green as a vine--the weapon itself strictly is able to invoke the wrath of the earth in battle if used in a certain way.

Magic: Data Pending.

Skills/Abilities:

He appears to be able to have great speed, which he has used in one instance enough to convince an opponent that he was teleporting.

Likes: Black, samurai, noodles, dancing, singing, and impressing those he admires.

Dislikes: Idiots, insignificant beings, being pushed around, and whiny brats.
